The Natural History Museum MaNa group and Norwegian Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) node invite students, PhDs, postdocs, researchers, and faculty at the University of Oslo for a 1-day workshop on Tuesday, 17 September 2024 (save-the-date). GBIF Norway and the GBIF Secretariat were invited as speakers at the Plant Treaty (ITPGRFA) fifth meeting of the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) of the Global Information System (GLIS) in Rome from 8^th to 9^th May 2023.

The Arctic University Museum of Norway will publish specimen data for the Macroalgae collection (Phaeophyta, Rhodophyta, Chlorophyta, and Charophyta) including an estimated 3500 + 431 + 300 +458 + 60 specimens.

The University of Oslo Natural History Museum will publish specimen data for parasitic insects (Diptera: Tachinidae; Hymenoptera: Cynipoidea, Chalcidoidea) including an estimated 6500 new specimen records.

The University Museum of Bergen has published 7833 georeferenced and data quality validated specimen records for 19 diptera families. 

NaturRestaurering AS has published five datasets with a total of 13203 occurrences.

NINA has published 67815 observations of medium-size predators including arctic fox, red fox, wolverine, and golden eagle from above the treeline in Norway.

Museum Stavanger has published data of birds ringed with Norwegian rings from the period 1961 to 1990. The dataset includes 2,43 million ringed birds from 336 different species. The data is aggregated in relation to species, date, age, sex, status and locality, resulting in 633 060 species occurrences.  

Four-day training workshop on biodiversity data mobilization for the Balkans. Organized by the Global Biodiversity Information facility (GBIF) secretariat.

Three-days on-site GBIF course in Moscow 15-17 May 2018. Digitisation (databasing) of natural history collections. Priority will be given to applicants with immediate plans to digitize wet collections and to publish data through GBIF.

The Norwegian GBIF node provides co-funding for open publication of Norwegian biodiversity data through an annual call. In total 5 projects were co-funded in the 2017 call.

The ECPGR working groups on forage crops and on barley invited GBIF-Norway to the joint workshop in Malmö to present the GBIF data portal.

GBIF Norway (GBIF.no) and the Norwegian Biodiversity Information Centre (Artsdatabanken.no) organize a seminar on data publishing in Tromsø on 7th and 8th of September 2016.

The Research Council of Norway (RCN) organizes a workshop on 1st November 2016 to collect experiences on research data archiving and open access data publishing. The Norwegian GBIF-node will present the GBIF framework including dataset DOIs and download DOIs.

A total of 9 project applications receive co-funding from the GBIF node for data publishing based on the April 2016 project call.

NINA, NTNU University Museum, GBIF Norway and the NBIC (Artsdatabanken) organize a workshop on publication of biodiversity occurrence data to GBIF and the Norwegian Map Service (Artskart) at NINA in Trondheim in October 2015. Norway joined the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) in 2004. The UiO Natural History Museum in Oslo has hosted the Norwegian participant node of the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) since the Norwegian GBIF node was established in 2005.
